Discovered in the Cro-Magnon Shelter during rail repairs in 1868 in France, this skull with a capacity of 1,600 cm3 belonged to a Homo sapiens of about 1.80 metres. A symptomatic injury from bone pathology is visible on the forehead. The name of the species originates from the place of discovery.
