The collections in this museum come from archaeological excavations conducted in the 1960’s before the construction of the reservoirs on the Verdon River. These digs revealed the very ancient presence of prehistoric man in southeastern France. Here you will see the Paleolithic Age or Stone Age, the most ancient period of Prehistory. Mankind lived as nomads and hunter-gatherers. Then the Neolithic Era, when mankind started building villages and began farming and domesticating animals. There is a glossary to help you with the terms for these periods. Enjoy your visit!
