Welcome to the Gorges du Verdon Museum of Prehistory, an established musée de France and domaine départemental of the Haute-Provence Alps region.
Here you are in one of the most extensive museums on Prehistory in Europe, inaugurated in 2001. This building, over 4000 m2 , was designed by English architect Norman Foster.
Here you are in the atrium next to a life-size rendition of a herd of animals from the Ice Age.
On this level you can visit the temporary exhibition and enjoy the cafeteria.
The permanent displays are on the upper floor.
You can access this floor using the ramp, or else the lift located in the cafeteria space.
The device you now have in hand will accompany you throughout the tour and highlight nearby points of interest. To listen to the corresponding explanations, all you have to do is choose a “point of interest” either on the map or list. At the bottom of each browser screen there are clickable buttons so you can switch between the list and map items. One of these buttons also gives you access to help screens.
