The Mousterian is the main culture of the Middle Paleolithic in Europe and is attributed to Neanderthals. Locally, the tool sets varied significantly with hand axes, denticulates, notches and scrapers. The regional cultural types were defined based on the respective number of categories of tools in the overall toolsets. The Mousterian industry from the South East of France generally includes several scrapers.
